Washington Dulles International Airport

Dulles is the preferred airport for large-cabin private jets serving the DC area. Reagan National (KDCA) has slot restrictions and a Stage 3 noise waiver requirement for turbojets, which effectively limits it to smaller aircraft on shorter trips. Dulles has none of those constraints. The runways accommodate any aircraft in service, and there are no slot controls.

The main FBOs are Signature Flight Support and Jet Aviation, both airside with full amenities. Customs and Border Protection is on site, making Dulles the standard arrival point for international private flights into the DC area. If you're flying in from Europe or the Caribbean, this is where you'll clear.

The airport operates 24 hours. There are noise abatement procedures on certain departure headings between 11pm and 7am, but no hard curfew that would ground your aircraft.

Downtown Washington DC is 26 miles east, typically 35 to 50 minutes by car depending on traffic on the Dulles Toll Road (Route 267). The Silver Line Metro now runs from Dulles to downtown DC, with a stop at the terminal, though most private passengers use car service. Tysons Corner is 12 miles east, about 15 minutes. Bethesda and Northern Virginia suburbs are 20 to 30 minutes. Car services and black car fleets are well established at both FBOs. Helicopter transfers to downtown DC are available through operators based at the field.
