Group trip calculator
Compare private charter costs vs. first-class tickets for your group.
We built this calculator to give you an honest, realistic comparison — not a sales pitch. The numbers are based on real market data, not best-case scenarios.
Charter rates reflect real market pricing. We use published hourly rates for each aircraft category (turboprop through ultra-long-range), adjusted for your booking window — booking weeks ahead is cheaper than same-week. A 15% buffer covers FBO fees, segment fees, and landing charges that are standard on charter invoices. Round trips double the flight cost.
First-class fares are based on actual domestic pricing tiers. We estimate first-class costs by route distance and booking window. Short hops under 1,000 miles are $400–$1,200 per person; transcontinental routes run $2,500–$6,000. These reflect what you'd actually pay on major carriers, not discounted economy comparisons.
Flight times use real aircraft performance data. We calculate times using verified cruise speeds and range specifications for over 100 aircraft types, with realistic climb, descent, and taxi buffers for each category. If a route exceeds an aircraft's range, we include a 45-minute fuel stop — because that's what actually happens.
The breakeven chart is math, not marketing. It divides the total charter cost by each possible group size so you can see exactly where private becomes cheaper per person than first class. For many routes, the crossover happens at 4–6 travelers.
What's not included: Positioning fees (the aircraft's deadhead flight to your departure airport), catering, ground transportation, or international surcharges. These vary by operator and trip.
