Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport

Fort Lauderdale Executive is the primary general aviation airport for South Florida's private jet market. Unlike Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (KFLL) a few miles to the south, FXE has no slot requirements, no commercial airline traffic, and no TSA screening lines. Charters and empty legs flow through here constantly, which is why the airport consistently ranks among the busiest general aviation fields in the country.

Banyan Air Service, one of the largest FBOs in the United States, anchors the airport with a full-service facility including a large passenger lounge, conference rooms, catering coordination, and ramp space for wide-body aircraft. Additional FBO options are available on the field. Ramp congestion can occur during peak snowbird season (December through March) and around major South Florida events, so coordinating arrival slots with your operator in advance is worth doing during those windows.

The airport is a designated U.S. Customs and Border Protection port of entry, so international arrivals from the Bahamas, Caribbean, and Latin America clear customs on site. This is a significant advantage over some nearby GA airports.

Downtown Fort Lauderdale is about 5 miles southeast, a 15-minute drive in normal traffic. Miami's Brickell and downtown districts are roughly 35 miles south, typically 40 to 50 minutes depending on I-95 conditions. Palm Beach is 45 miles north, about an hour by car. Boca Raton sits 20 miles north, around 25 minutes.

Black car and car service options are widely available given the volume of private travel through FXE. Most FBOs will coordinate ground transport on request. Uber and Lyft operate at the airport. Miami is also reachable by helicopter transfer for passengers who need to avoid interstate traffic during peak hours.
