Miami International Airport

Miami International is a large commercial airport that also handles a significant volume of private jet traffic, primarily through FBOs on the airport's west side. Signature Flight Support operates two locations at MIA. The airport runs 24/7 with no hard curfew, though noise abatement procedures apply on certain runway configurations late at night. Expect commercial airport-style congestion on the ramp and in ground traffic, particularly during peak morning and evening pushes.

As a major international entry point, MIA has U.S. Customs and Border Protection on-site around the clock, which makes it the practical choice for international arrivals and departures from South Florida. Private passengers clear customs at the FBO rather than the commercial terminals. If your destination is the Florida Keys or you want to avoid MIA's volume entirely, nearby Ocean Reef Club Airport (07FA) in Key Largo is an option for smaller aircraft, though it lacks customs.

Downtown Miami and Brickell are 8 miles east of the airport, typically 15 to 20 minutes by car in light traffic. Miami Beach is about 11 miles via the MacArthur or Julia Tuttle Causeway, usually 25 to 35 minutes depending on causeway traffic, which backs up frequently during season. Coral Gables is 10 minutes south. Fort Lauderdale is 28 miles north on I-95, running 35 to 50 minutes outside rush hour and longer during peak times.

Black car and SUV services are the standard option. Helicopter transfers to Miami Beach or Fisher Island are available through several South Florida operators and cut door-to-door time significantly during heavy causeway congestion.
