Boise Air Terminal/Gowen Field

Boise Air Terminal is a joint-use facility shared with Gowen Field, home of the Idaho Air National Guard. Military traffic is a regular presence, particularly fighter operations, so expect occasional airspace coordination delays during peak military activity. The airport sits at 2,871 feet MSL, which affects useful load calculations for jets departing in summer heat.

Western Aircraft and Jackson Jet Center are the two primary FBOs, both offering full services including fuel, hangar space, and crew cars. Western Aircraft has been the dominant handler here for decades and has the larger facility. Jackson Jet Center is newer and frequently cited for faster turnarounds. Swift Aircraft Management handles management and charter operations from the field.

No slots are required and there are no commercial gate conflicts for general aviation, which uses a dedicated ramp area separate from the airline terminal. The airport handles international arrivals with CBP on site, though pre-clearance arrangements should be confirmed in advance with your FBO.

Downtown Boise is 5 miles north of the airport, a 10 to 15 minute drive depending on traffic. Sun Valley (Ketchum) is 150 miles northeast, roughly 2.5 hours by car over US-20. McCall, the nearest mountain resort to the north, is about 100 miles and 1.5 hours. Both FBOs offer crew cars for short trips; Uber and Lyft are active in Boise. Several car rental companies operate on the airport property.
