Portland International Airport

Portland International handles roughly 20 million passengers annually on its commercial side, but private aviation operates through dedicated FBO facilities separate from the terminal congestion. Signature Flight Support is the primary FBO, with full ramp services, passenger lounges, and fuel. No slot requirements apply to general aviation, though expect ATC sequencing delays during morning and evening commercial peaks.

PDX has CBP facilities for international arrivals, which makes it practical for transatlantic or transpacific routing into the Pacific Northwest. The airport sits at 26 feet elevation near the confluence of the Columbia and Willamette rivers. Weather is generally benign in summer but winter brings low ceilings and occasional freezing conditions from November through February.

Noise abatement procedures are in effect for late-night departures. Check NOTAMs for current restrictions before scheduling very early or very late operations.

Downtown Portland is 6 miles southwest, typically 20 to 30 minutes by car. I-205 connects directly to the airport, with I-84 as the route into the city core. Car services and town cars meet at FBO ramps directly. Vancouver, Washington is about 10 miles north across the Columbia River via I-205. For trips to the Oregon Coast, Cannon Beach and Seaside are roughly 80 miles west, about 90 minutes by car. Salem is 47 miles south on I-5, around 50 minutes.
