Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

KDFW is one of the largest airports in the country by land area, covering roughly 69 square miles between Dallas and Fort Worth. Private jets operate from dedicated FBO facilities separate from the commercial terminals. Signature Flight Support and Million Air are the primary FBO operators at DFW, both offering standard amenities including crew cars, catering coordination, and passenger lounges. There are no slot restrictions for general aviation, and the airport operates 24 hours a day with no hard noise curfew, though voluntary noise abatement procedures apply on certain runways after 10pm.

For international arrivals, CBP customs is available on-site around the clock, making KDFW a practical entry point for transatlantic and transpacific private flights into North Texas. Ramp space and hangar availability are generally good given the airport's scale, though heavy commercial traffic means instrument approach delays are possible during peak hours. Passengers who are only going to Dallas proper should note that Dallas Love Field (KDAL) is typically more convenient, sitting 7 miles closer to downtown. KDFW makes more sense when the destination is Fort Worth, the mid-cities area, or when an international customs stop is required.

Downtown Dallas is approximately 18 miles southeast of the airport, a 25 to 40 minute drive depending on traffic on I-35E or the north Dallas Tollway. Uptown and the Design District run about 22 miles and add 5 to 10 minutes. Fort Worth's downtown is roughly 20 miles west, typically 25 to 35 minutes via I-30. The Metroplex has no significant helicopter charter transfer infrastructure for routine ground transport, so car service is the standard option. The major FBOs can arrange ground transportation on request, and national car service companies operate at the airport around the clock.
