Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport

Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport is the only commercial-service airport in Sonoma County and the most practical entry point for Wine Country. Private aircraft avoid the congestion, ground delays, and slot constraints of SFO and OAK. The drive from KSTS to the heart of Sonoma Valley wine country is under an hour in most conditions.

The airport has a single runway (14/32) and handles a mix of commercial regional jets and private aircraft. It is a medium-complexity FBO environment with no slot requirements and no customs facility. International arrivals must clear customs at a designated port of entry before continuing to KSTS.

The airport does not operate 24 hours. Late-night arrivals and early-morning departures should be confirmed with the FBO in advance. The airport is community-situated and has noise abatement procedures in place, particularly for jet departures over residential areas to the north.

Downtown Santa Rosa is about 5 miles from the terminal, roughly 10 minutes by car. Healdsburg, a popular Wine Country destination with several high-end hotels and tasting rooms, is 18 miles north, about 25 minutes. The town of Sonoma is approximately 30 miles southeast, 40 minutes without traffic. Napa city is about 40 miles east, typically 50 to 60 minutes depending on Highway 12 conditions.

Car service and black car options are available from local operators, and Uber and Lyft both serve the airport. Car rentals are available on-site. San Francisco is 55 miles south via US-101, which runs 75 to 90 minutes in normal conditions and considerably longer during commute hours.
