Bishop International Airport

Bishop International sits 4 miles northwest of downtown Flint and draws private traffic from across mid-Michigan, particularly passengers who want to avoid Detroit Metro's congestion and fees. The airport handles a mix of commercial and general aviation, but private jets operate through a dedicated FBO ramp with no slot requirements and minimal ground delays.

For passengers coming from the northern Detroit suburbs, Flint can be a legitimate alternative to DTW or Pontiac (KPTK). The drive from Auburn Hills or Clarkston is roughly 30-40 minutes, and the private terminal experience is considerably simpler than negotiating a hub airport. The airport does not have regular noise curfews that affect private operations, though standard noise abatement procedures apply on departure.

Downtown Flint is 4 miles from the terminal, roughly 10 minutes by car. Detroit is 60 miles south on I-75, typically 55-65 minutes in normal traffic. Lansing is 55 miles west on I-69, about 50 minutes. Ann Arbor runs about 65 miles south, just over an hour. Car service and rental cars are available at the airport. There is no helicopter transfer service operating regularly from KFNT.
