St Simons Island Airport sits at the center of Georgia's Golden Isles, handling exclusively general and private aviation. There are no commercial airline operations here, which means no competition for ramp space, no shared terminals, and no TSA screening lines. The FBO experience is straightforward: pull up, deplane, and you're in a golf cart headed to your car or waiting transfer within minutes.

The airport sits at sea level on a barrier island, so instrument approaches can be affected by coastal fog, particularly in winter mornings. Runway 04/22 is 4,000 feet, which accommodates most light and midsize jets comfortably. Heavy cabin jets may require a fuel or runway length assessment depending on load and conditions. Pilots familiar with coastal Georgia will know to check ATIS early.

The surrounding area is resort-driven, and the airport sees consistent private traffic year-round, with peaks around Masters week in April (Augusta is 3 hours northwest), holiday weekends, and summer. Ramp space is generally available, but calling ahead during peak weeks is worth doing.

The airport is on St Simons Island itself, connected to Brunswick and the mainland by the F.J. Torras Causeway. Sea Island and the Cloister resort are about 6 miles away, roughly a 12-minute drive. Jekyll Island is approximately 10 miles south. Brunswick's city center is about 7 miles via the causeway.

Most passengers arrange car service in advance through their FBO or a local livery company. Uber and Lyft coverage exists but is limited on the island, particularly late at night. Savannah is 70 miles north (about 75 minutes), Jacksonville is 75 miles south (about 80 minutes), both accessible by car.
