Jacksonville International Airport

KJAX handles commercial and private traffic on the same field, but private passengers use dedicated FBO facilities on the general aviation ramp and bypass the terminal entirely. Signature Flight Support is the primary FBO. The airport operates 24/7 with no slot restrictions, which makes it straightforward to schedule departures and arrivals without the coordination overhead required at congested Northeast airports.

Jacksonville is a common positioning point for private operators covering Southeast Florida and the Gulf Coast, which is why departure and arrival inventory here tends to be active. The airport has U.S. Customs and Border Protection on site, so international arrivals can clear customs without diverting to another field.

No persistent noise curfews limit operations, though standard noise abatement departure procedures apply at night. The airspace is managed by Jacksonville TRACON and rarely causes significant delays for general aviation.

Downtown Jacksonville is 13 miles south, typically 20 to 25 minutes by car depending on I-95 traffic. Ponte Vedra Beach and TPC Sawgrass are about 30 miles southeast, roughly 35 to 40 minutes. Amelia Island is 30 miles northeast, around 35 minutes. St. Augustine is 50 miles south, about 50 to 60 minutes. Car service and black car operators serve the FBO directly. Jacksonville Beach is roughly 25 miles and 30 to 35 minutes from the airport.
