Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport

Craig Airport sits on the east side of Jacksonville, well clear of the congestion at Jacksonville International (JAX) 20 miles to the northwest. There are no scheduled airline operations here, so the ramp, FBO, and terminal experience are oriented entirely toward general aviation and charter. That translates to faster ground handling, no competition for parking space, and a quieter arrival experience.

The airport has a control tower and two paved runways, with the primary runway running northeast-southwest at just over 4,000 feet. That length accommodates most light and midsize jets comfortably. Larger cabin aircraft should verify performance data for the runway available, particularly on warm Florida days when density altitude affects climb performance.

For passengers flying into the Jacksonville Beaches corridor, Ponte Vedra, or the Southside business district, Craig is almost always the more practical choice over JAX. The routing avoids the interstate interchange congestion on the west side of the city.

Downtown Jacksonville is about 10 miles west of the airport, a 20 to 25 minute drive depending on traffic. Jacksonville Beach is approximately 8 miles east, typically 15 minutes. Ponte Vedra Beach runs about 18 miles south, around 25 minutes. St. Augustine is 40 miles south, roughly 45 minutes by car.

Rideshare pickups are straightforward here given the low traffic volume. Car rental and charter car services operate from the FBO. There is no helicopter shuttle service from this airport.
