Seattle–Tacoma International Airport

KSEA is a large commercial airport handling around 50 million passengers per year. Private jets can land here via Signature Flight Support, the primary FBO on the south end of the field, but the airport's scale means you'll encounter commercial traffic delays on the ground and in the air. Runway assignments and sequencing are managed by a high-volume TRACON and expect longer taxi times than you'd see at a reliever airport.

For many private flights into the Seattle metro, Boeing Field (KBFI) is the more practical choice. It sits 8 miles from downtown, has no commercial airline competition, and typically offers faster ramp-to-car times. KSEA makes sense when international customs clearance is required, when a client has a connecting commercial flight, or when specific operator or scheduling reasons require it.

The airport operates 24 hours. Port of Seattle noise abatement procedures apply, particularly for Stage 2 aircraft and nighttime departures on certain runways. KSEA has full CBP facilities for international arrivals.

Downtown Seattle is 14 miles north of KSEA, roughly 25 to 45 minutes by car depending on I-5 traffic. Bellevue is about 15 miles northeast, typically 20 to 35 minutes. Tacoma is 27 miles south, around 30 minutes in normal conditions. Black car and car service pickups are straightforward from the FBO ramp.

Link Light Rail runs from the airport to downtown Seattle in about 40 minutes with no traffic exposure, though it's less practical with luggage for charter passengers. Rideshare is available but pickup from the terminal area requires navigating commercial ground transport lanes.
