Palm Springs International Airport

Palm Springs International is a medium commercial airport that handles a high volume of private jet traffic, particularly during winter season (November through April) when the desert resort corridor draws significant charter demand. The airport has dedicated FBO facilities and is well set up for private aviation, though during peak events like the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach, ramp space fills quickly and early coordination with your FBO is essential.

The airport sits at 477 feet elevation and is surrounded by mountains, which affects approach procedures. Runway 13R/31L is the primary runway at 8,500 feet, capable of handling most large-cabin jets. Noise abatement procedures are in effect for nighttime departures. Palm Springs is a slot-free airport, but during major events, expect congestion at the FBOs and confirm hangar or tiedown space well in advance.

FBO options include Signature Flight Support and Jet Aviation, both offering the standard range of fueling, catering coordination, and ground handling. The terminal area is compact, which means short walks between aircraft and vehicles.

Downtown Palm Springs is about 2 miles from the airport, roughly a 5-minute drive. Indian Wells, La Quinta, and the polo grounds at Empire Polo Club (Coachella festival site) are 25 to 30 miles east, a 30 to 40-minute drive depending on traffic. Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage are 15 to 20 miles east. Car service and rental cars are both available at the airport. During Coachella and Stagecoach weekends, road traffic on I-10 and Highway 111 can extend drive times significantly, and pre-arranged car service is worth booking early.
