Portsmouth International Airport at Pease

Portsmouth International Airport at Pease sits on the former Pease Air Force Base, which closed in 1991 and reopened as a civilian airport within the Pease International Tradeport. The runways were built to military standards and can handle heavy jets, including BBJ and large-cabin aircraft, without the weight or length restrictions you find at smaller regional airports.

The airport has no slot requirements and no commercial airline congestion. That means consistent ramp access, fast turns, and no competing with airline ground traffic for FBO resources. U.S. Customs and Border Protection maintains a port of entry at Pease, so international arrivals clear customs on-site.

The FBO environment is quiet and efficient. Multiple operators are based here, and the Tradeport location means many passengers are traveling for business within the industrial and technology park that surrounds the airport.

Downtown Portsmouth is 3 miles from the terminal, about 8 minutes by car. The airport is directly off the Spaulding Turnpike (NH Route 16), which connects north to Maine and south toward the Massachusetts border. Boston's Back Bay is approximately 60 miles south, with drive times ranging from 55 minutes to 90 minutes depending on traffic on I-95. Portland, Maine is 55 miles north, about 50 minutes in normal conditions.

Car rental is available at the airport. Car service and black car operators serve the Seacoast region regularly given the volume of business traffic in and out of the Tradeport.
