Los Angeles International Airport

LAX is the largest airport in the Southern California metro and one of the busiest commercial airports in the world. For private aviation, it is rarely the first choice for domestic trips into LA. Van Nuys (KVNY) and Hawthorne (KHHR) handle the bulk of private jet traffic with faster ramp access, simpler ground ops, and no commercial congestion. LAX makes the most sense when U.S. Customs is required on an international inbound flight, or when your ground destination is on the Westside and proximity matters.

Signature Flight Support operates the main FBO at LAX. Expect longer taxi distances than at a dedicated GA airport. The ramp and taxiways see heavy commercial traffic throughout the day, and coordination with your ground handler well in advance is standard practice. The airport operates 24 hours. Noise abatement procedures apply to older Stage 2 aircraft overnight, but modern business jets are not restricted. No formal slot reservations are required for Part 135 charter operations, though peak-period delays are common.

Beverly Hills is about 10 miles northeast of the airport, typically 20 to 35 minutes by car. Downtown Los Angeles is 16 miles east, usually 30 to 50 minutes depending on time of day. Santa Monica is 6 miles north, around 15 to 25 minutes. Malibu is 22 miles northwest via PCH, generally 30 to 50 minutes.

Car service from operators including Carey, Blacklane, and local private transportation companies meets arrivals directly on the FBO ramp. Helicopter transfers are available for connections to downtown, the San Fernando Valley, or coastal destinations, cutting surface travel to 10 to 15 minutes for most LA points.
