Jackson Hole Airport

Jackson Hole Airport sits inside Grand Teton National Park, 8 miles north of Jackson's town square. Its location inside a national park creates real operational constraints: the airport cannot expand its footprint, the single 6,300-foot runway handles everything from turboprops to heavy jets, and ramp space is limited. Plan for congestion during peak ski season (late December through March) and again in July and August when summer resort traffic peaks.

The elevation matters. At 6,451 feet MSL, density altitude can climb well above 10,000 feet on warm summer days. Operators flying larger cabin aircraft typically account for reduced payload and fuel at departure, and some flights require intermediate fuel stops. Confirm performance numbers with your operator before booking, especially on short summer turnarounds.

Signature Flight Support operates the FBO. During peak season, ramp space fills quickly and departure slots can back up. If you are arriving or departing on a holiday weekend, confirm ramp availability in advance. The airport has noise abatement procedures in effect; night departures are restricted, and the National Park Service has ongoing oversight of operations.

Jackson's town square is 8 miles south of the airport, roughly 15 minutes by car. Teton Village and the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort base area are about 20 miles southwest, a 30 to 35 minute drive depending on traffic and road conditions. During ski season, Highway 22 and the Teton Village Road can add 10 to 15 minutes in heavy traffic.

Most FBOs and charter operators can arrange car service or SUV transfers on request. Multiple car rental companies operate at the terminal. In winter, four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive is standard for the mountain roads. Helicopter transfers to backcountry lodges and remote ranch properties are available through local operators, though airspace and permit requirements within the national park apply.
