Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport

KBZN sits at 4,473 feet MSL in the Gallatin Valley. The elevation matters: turboprops and light jets lose meaningful performance margin on hot summer days, so operators factor density altitude into weight and fuel planning. Jets in the mid and heavy categories handle the field without issue year-round.

Bozeman Jet Center is the main FBO for private arrivals, with ramp, fuel, and passenger facilities on the south side of the airport. The airport has grown sharply alongside Bozeman's population, and peak congestion is real. Ski season (late December through March, with Thanksgiving and the Christmas-New Year window the worst) brings heavy private traffic. Summer weekends in July and August are also busy. Ramp space fills during holiday peaks, and calling ahead with arrival times is standard practice rather than optional.

There are no slot requirements. Commercial carriers use the main terminal; private arrivals flow through the FBO and largely bypass that side of the operation.

Downtown Bozeman is 8 miles east of the airport, a 15 to 20 minute drive under normal conditions. Big Sky Resort is 45 miles south on US-191, about 55 to 65 minutes depending on season and road conditions. Winter can add time on that canyon stretch. The north entrance to Yellowstone National Park at Gardiner is approximately 85 miles and runs about 1.5 hours.

Car rentals are available at the main terminal. Uber and Lyft operate in Bozeman with reasonable coverage near the airport. Several local car services cater specifically to private aviation passengers and can meet at the FBO.
