Region of Waterloo International Airport

CYKF is the primary airport for Waterloo Region, a tech and manufacturing corridor anchored by Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge. Chartright Air Group operates an FBO here, providing ramp handling, fuel, and charter services. The airport is a designated CBSA port of entry, so international arrivals can clear customs on-site without diverting to Toronto or Hamilton.

The airport handles both commercial and private traffic, though volumes are modest compared to Toronto-area airports. Slot requirements are not a factor, and ramp congestion is rarely an issue. For passengers connecting to the University of Waterloo, Google's Canadian engineering hub, or any of the Waterloo tech-sector offices, this airport avoids the 401 grind from Pearson entirely.

Downtown Kitchener is about 10 km west, roughly 15 minutes by car under normal conditions. Waterloo is 15 km and about 20 minutes. Cambridge is 20 km south, around 25 minutes. For Toronto, the 401 eastbound puts you in the city core in roughly 90 minutes without traffic, though peak-hour times can double that. Car service and rental vehicles are available at the airport. There is no helicopter transfer service operating regularly from CYKF.
