Edmonton International Airport

Edmonton International Airport is the primary arrival point for private charter traffic into Alberta's capital region. The airport operates 24 hours and has no slot restrictions, which makes it straightforward to schedule ad hoc charter operations without the coordination overhead of busier slot-controlled airports. The FBO facilities are well-equipped for corporate and charter traffic, with dedicated private terminal access, separate from commercial flows.

The airport sits at 2,373 feet elevation on the flat Alberta prairie, which has minimal operational impact for most jet categories. Winter operations are a practical consideration: Edmonton averages temperatures well below freezing from November through March, and the airport maintains active de-icing capability. If you're arriving for business in the energy sector, the airport is the standard entry point, with direct road access to the industrial corridors north and east of the city.

Downtown Edmonton is approximately 29 km north of the airport, a drive of 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic on Highway 2 (the Queen Elizabeth II Highway). The Nisku business park and many oil and gas corporate campuses are within 10 to 15 minutes of the terminal. Leduc is 10 minutes south. Car service and black car operators are available from the airport, and major rental car companies have on-site counters. The Edmonton Valley Line LRT does not currently extend to the airport; ground transportation by car is the practical option. Banff is roughly 3.5 hours by road via Highway 2 south to the Trans-Canada.
