Luis Munoz Marin International Airport

TJSJ is the dominant airport for private jet arrivals and departures across Puerto Rico. As a large international airport, it accommodates charter traffic alongside substantial commercial volume, which means FBO operations are well-established but ramp congestion during peak winter season (December through April) is real. Plan accordingly if you are arriving for a major event or holiday weekend.

Puerto Rico is a US territory, so flights arriving from the continental US clear no customs or immigration. Flights arriving from foreign destinations clear US Customs and Border Protection on the ground at SJU. The airport has CBP facilities for international general aviation arrivals. Craig Air Center is the primary FBO on the field and handles most private charter traffic.

The airport operates around the clock. There are no published slot requirements for general aviation, but coordination with the FBO for ramp space is advisable during busy periods. Runway 10/28 is the primary commercial runway at 10,002 feet, more than adequate for any aircraft type.

The Isla Verde hotel strip is 5 to 10 minutes from the terminal by car. Condado, the main upscale residential and hotel district, is about 7 miles west, typically 20 minutes without traffic. Old San Juan is 9 miles west, 25 to 35 minutes depending on congestion on Route 26. Dorado, home to luxury resort properties including the Ritz-Carlton Reserve, is 30 miles west, roughly 45 to 60 minutes by car.

Ride-share services operate at the airport. Pre-arranged car service is common for charter passengers and is the more reliable option during busy arrivals. Helicopter transfers to other parts of the island are available through operators at nearby Isla Grande Airport (TJIG), which sits on the San Juan waterfront about 6 miles west.
