Lynden Pindling International Airport

Lynden Pindling International Airport is the busiest airport in the Bahamas and the primary entry point for private jets arriving from the US East Coast and Florida. Nassau sits roughly 180 miles from Miami and 165 miles from Fort Lauderdale, making it one of the most common short-haul international routes in private aviation. The trip is short enough that many operators position aircraft here regularly, which is why the airport consistently has a healthy supply of empty legs.

Private aviation operates through dedicated FBO facilities separate from the commercial terminal. Odyssey Aviation is the dominant FBO at MYNN and handles the majority of private jet traffic. All international arrivals clear Bahamian customs and immigration on the ground. For US-bound departures, the airport offers US Customs and Border Protection preclearance, meaning passengers clear US customs before leaving Nassau and land in the US as domestic arrivals. This is a significant practical advantage.

The airport handles substantial traffic during peak Bahamian tourism season (December through April) and around major events. Plan for potential ramp congestion and slot coordination during holiday periods.

Downtown Nassau is about 10 miles east of the airport, typically 20 to 30 minutes by car depending on traffic. Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island runs about 14 miles from the FBO, usually 30 to 40 minutes. Baha Mar, on Cable Beach, is the closest major resort at around 5 miles, roughly 15 minutes. Taxis are available at the airport and are the standard option for most arrivals. Car rentals are available on-site. Hotel transfers can be arranged in advance through most Nassau properties. For guests arriving at private islands or Out Islands, helicopter transfers can be arranged through local operators, though most inter-island travel uses smaller prop planes out of dedicated GA ramps.
