Los Cabos International Airport

MMSD is the only international airport serving Los Cabos, which means every private flight arriving from the US or Canada clears customs here. The airport has dedicated FBO ramp space separate from the commercial terminals, and international arrivals go through Mexican customs and immigration on arrival. Bring your passports and tourist cards (FMM forms), which FBO staff typically help coordinate in advance.

Peak season runs December through April, with additional spikes around Semana Santa (Holy Week) and US spring break. During these windows, ramp space tightens, ground handling lead times stretch, and slots can be harder to coordinate. File permits early. The airport does not operate 24 hours, so late-night arrivals require advance coordination with handling agents to confirm availability.

San José del Cabo town center is roughly 8 miles south of the airport, about 15 minutes by car. Cabo San Lucas is approximately 20 miles southwest, a 30 to 40-minute drive depending on traffic along Highway 1. The Tourist Corridor, where most of the major resorts sit (Palmilla, Las Ventanas, Chileno Bay), runs between the two towns and is 15 to 30 minutes from the airport. Pre-arranged car service from your FBO or resort concierge is the standard option. Rental cars are available at the terminal. Helicopter transfers to resort helipads exist but are not widely offered by scheduled operators.
