Sangster International Airport

Sangster International is Jamaica's busiest airport and the main entry point for the island's north coast resort corridor. Private aircraft use a dedicated general aviation area separate from the commercial terminal, with customs and immigration processing on-site. As an international point of entry, all arriving private jets clear customs here.

The airport sees heavy traffic from November through April and again during summer peak weeks. During Christmas, New Year's, and spring break periods, expect congestion on the ramp and potential delays in ground handling. If you're arriving during peak season, coordinate with your FBO well in advance. Slot requirements apply for certain peak periods.

Chartright Air Group operates here, making MKJS a practical departure point for northbound empty legs back to Canada and the northeastern United States.

Most north coast resorts are within 30 to 90 minutes of the airport. The hotel zone along Gloucester Avenue (the Hip Strip) is about 3 miles from the terminal, roughly 10 minutes by car. Rose Hall resorts, including Half Moon and the Sandals properties, are 7 to 10 miles east, about 15 to 20 minutes. Negril is 55 miles west, typically 90 minutes by road. Ocho Rios is about 65 miles east along the coast, also around 90 minutes. Car service and private transfers are available through most resorts and FBO handlers. Helicopter transfers between MKJS and other points on the island are available through local operators.
