Zürich Airport

Zürich Airport is a Level 3 slot-coordinated airport, which means all private flights require advance slot approval. Plan for slot requests at least a week ahead during peak periods, and expect tighter availability around major events like the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Basel Art Fair, and Formula 1 race weekends.

The airport has a dedicated Business Aviation Terminal operated by Jet Aviation, one of the largest FBOs in Europe. Passengers arrive and depart separately from commercial traffic, with private customs clearance, crew facilities, and ramp-side vehicle access. The facility handles intercontinental range aircraft without issue.

Night operations are restricted between 11pm and 6am local time. Departures must be airborne before 11pm; arrivals after that window require prior authorization and are generally not granted except for medical or emergency traffic. If your schedule runs late, Friedrichshafen (EDNY, about 75 km east) has no curfew and can serve as an alternate, though it lacks Zurich's infrastructure.

Zurich city center is 12 km south of the airport. By car or hired car service, the drive to the Bahnhofstrasse area takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic, with rush hour adding up to 45 minutes. The A1 motorway connects directly.

Zürich Airport has its own rail station one level below the arrivals hall. Direct trains run to Zürich Hauptbahnhof every few minutes and take 10 minutes. For Geneva, direct intercity trains depart hourly and take about 2 hours 45 minutes. Helicopter transfers to Davos, St. Moritz, and other alpine destinations can be arranged through the FBO.
