Southwest Florida International Airport

KRSW is a commercial service airport with FBO facilities, primarily Signature Flight Support, handling both scheduled airlines and private traffic on the same field. The airport is large enough to accommodate heavy jets without restriction, and there are no slot requirements.

The peak season from January through April brings significant congestion. During this window, ramp space tightens and FBO response times can extend. If your trip falls in high season, confirm hangar or tiedown arrangements in advance. The off-season (May through November) is considerably quieter, and the same ground experience is much faster.

CBP is available at KRSW for international arrivals. If you are flying in from the Bahamas, Caribbean, or Mexico, you can clear customs on the field without diverting to Miami or Tampa.

Fort Myers downtown is about 13 miles west, typically 20 minutes by car. Naples is 30 miles south on I-75, around 35 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. Cape Coral is 20 miles northwest, roughly 25 to 30 minutes. Sanibel Island is about 25 miles west, 30 to 40 minutes with bridge traffic factored in.

Ground transportation options include car rental on the commercial side of the terminal, private car services operating throughout the region, and rideshare. For Sanibel or Captiva access during peak season, a pre-arranged car service is more reliable than rideshare given demand.
