Mineral Wells Regional Airport gives you uncongested access to the western edge of the DFW Metroplex without dealing with the traffic patterns, slot restrictions, or ramp congestion at Dallas Love Field or Alliance. No control tower means self-announce arrivals and departures on CTAF, and ground operations are straightforward. The airport is uncontrolled and operates without commercial airline activity.

The primary runway runs approximately 6,000 feet, which handles light to midsize jets comfortably. Fuel is available on the field. This is a practical choice if your destination is Palo Pinto County, Weatherford, Stephenville, or the Possum Kingdom Lake area, where the drive from Fort Worth adds 30 to 45 minutes on top of an already congested commute.

Mineral Wells is 45 miles west of Fort Worth (roughly 45 to 50 minutes on US-180 and I-20 depending on traffic) and about 65 miles from downtown Dallas. There is no scheduled car service at the airport. Plan ahead with a rental car arranged through a third party or arrange pickup. Weatherford, the Palo Pinto County seat, is 22 miles east. Possum Kingdom Lake is about 40 miles north via US-281.
