About City of Mineral Wells FBO
The City of Mineral Wells FBO is a municipally operated facility that has earned a reputation as one of the best FBOs in Texas, a state with no shortage of private aviation options. The combination of zero landing fees, zero ramp fees, competitive fuel prices, and a well-maintained facility makes it an exceptionally cost-effective stop for charter operators in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.
The airport features a 6,000-foot main runway equipped with an Instrument Landing System, capable of handling aircraft up to Boeing 737 and Lockheed C-130 size. A secondary 4,400-foot runway supports crosswind operations. Both runways are LED-lighted. The ramp is large and accommodating, with plenty of room for parking and quick turns.
The FBO terminal includes a pilot lounge with free Wi-Fi, a computer, HDTV, and two recliners for rest. The staff provides quick-turn service and can arrange ground transportation. Fuel is available in Jet-A (pre-mixed with FSII) and 100LL, with government fuel cards accepted.
Mineral Wells is located about 50 miles west of Fort Worth along Interstate 20, making it a practical alternative to the more expensive FBOs in the DFW metroplex for operators who do not need to be at Meacham, Love Field, or Alliance. The drive to downtown Fort Worth takes about an hour.
The town has an interesting history as a mineral water spa resort in the early 1900s, and the landmark Baker Hotel, a 14-story Art Deco structure built in 1929, has undergone a major restoration. The surrounding countryside offers scenic drives through the rolling terrain west of the Cross Timbers.
For charter passengers and operators who prioritize value, the Mineral Wells FBO delivers an impressive package. The no-fee policy, ILS-equipped runway, and friendly municipal operation make it a standout among Texas's many general aviation airports.
