Hilton Head Airport

Hilton Head Airport sits on the island itself, which means you land and are already there. No bridge crossing, no 45-minute drive from Savannah. For a resort destination where most guests are headed to Sea Pines, Palmetto Dunes, or Shelter Cove, that proximity is the entire case for flying into HHH over SAV.

The FBO ramp is compact but functional. Fixed base operations on the field handle fuel, hangar space, and ground services for private arrivals. The airport also handles limited commercial traffic on regional jets, so expect occasional ramp activity during peak morning and afternoon windows. Summer weekends and holiday periods see noticeably higher traffic as the island fills with resort visitors.

The island's residential character means noise sensitivity is real. Night operations face restrictions, and low-altitude departure and approach paths are planned to limit impact on neighborhoods. Confirm any after-hours arrival plans with the FBO before scheduling.

Most resort areas on Hilton Head are within 10 to 20 minutes of the airport by car. Sea Pines is about 7 miles south, roughly 15 minutes depending on traffic on US-278. The Coligny Beach area and Palmetto Dunes are similar distances. Bluffton, on the mainland just over the bridge, is about 12 miles and 20 minutes.

Rental cars are available on the airport property. Several car services and private sedan operators serve the island, and Uber and Lyft both operate here with reasonable availability. If you are headed to Savannah proper for dinner or events, plan on 45 to 50 miles and about an hour each way.
