About National Jets Air Center
National Jets Air Center is one of the oldest continuously operating FBOs at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The company was founded in 1947 by the Boy family, Carl, James, and Thomas, as a service station in Durham, North Carolina. They relocated operations to Fort Lauderdale in 1960, and the facility has remained at KFLL since. For charter passengers, the practical footprint includes a 22,000 square foot hangar and 10 acres of ramp parking, which supports the volume of traffic KFLL handles across peak winter and spring charter seasons. The facility holds FAA Part 145 repair station certification under certificate number JKIR235M. Maintenance staff handle Learjets, Gulfstreams, Citations, Falcons, and Bombardier aircraft, which covers the majority of airframes used in charter operations through South Florida. Passengers traveling on managed aircraft often care about maintenance availability because it affects schedule reliability, and having a certified shop on-site reduces the coordination overhead when squawks need attention before or after a flight. The terminal includes crew rest facilities, a conference room, and a flight planning room with 24-hour access. The pilot lounge is available around the clock. National Jets does not carry the brand recognition of the larger FBO networks, but its 65-plus years on the field at KFLL gives its staff familiarity with the airport's operational patterns, slot coordination, and customs procedures that newer facilities are still accumulating. For passengers whose charter operator has a long-standing relationship with this facility, the experience reflects that continuity.
