Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport

KBTV is a commercial and general aviation airport with no slot restrictions and no prior permission requirements for private arrivals. It sits in South Burlington, about 3 miles from the waterfront, and handles a mix of airline and charter traffic without significant congestion outside peak ski season weekends. FBO services are available on the general aviation ramp.

Vermont ski country is the main reason most private passengers fly into Burlington. Stowe Mountain Resort is roughly 40 miles northeast, Sugarbush Resort is about 55 miles southeast, and Mad River Glen is in the same direction. Winter weekends during peak season, especially Presidents' Week, see heavy traffic. Booking FBO ramp space and ground transportation well in advance during those windows is worth doing.

Burlington is about 60 miles south of the Canadian border at Champlain, NY. U.S. Customs and Border Protection facilities are available at the airport, which matters if you're routing through or arriving from Canada.

Downtown Burlington is about 3 miles from the terminal, a 10-minute drive in normal traffic. Ground transportation options include rental cars on-site and local car services. There is no direct rail connection.

For ski destinations, expect 45 to 55 minutes to Stowe, 60 to 75 minutes to Sugarbush, and about 90 minutes to Killington. Montreal is approximately 100 miles north via I-89, around 90 minutes by car. Lake Placid, NY runs about 65 miles and an hour to the southwest.
