Appleton International Airport

Appleton International sits in the Fox Valley corridor, which covers a roughly 50-mile stretch from Oshkosh north through Appleton to Green Bay. For private passengers, it offers a quieter alternative to Milwaukee or Chicago with no slot restrictions and straightforward ramp access. The airport handles commercial service alongside general aviation, but the GA side moves smoothly, with a fixed-base operator providing the standard range of fuel, hangar, and ground handling services.

The runway at KATW is 8,002 feet, which accommodates large-cabin jets without restriction. No curfew applies, and the airport operates around the clock. During EAA AirVenture week in late July, airspace and ramp congestion at nearby Oshkosh (KOSH) drives significant overflow to KATW, so plan accordingly if your trip falls during that period.

Downtown Appleton is 5 miles from the terminal, roughly a 10-minute drive. Green Bay is 30 miles north, about 35 minutes. Oshkosh is 20 miles south, around 25 minutes. Milwaukee is 105 miles south, typically 90 minutes on I-41. Chicago is about 185 miles, or 2.5 to 3 hours depending on traffic approaching the metro.

Car rental counters are available at the airport. For private charter passengers, FBO ground staff can coordinate car service on request. There is no helicopter transfer service based at KATW.
