Abilene Regional Airport

KABI has two paved runways, with the primary at 7,198 feet, which handles most midsize and super-midsize jets without restriction. The airport sits at 1,791 feet MSL. Traffic is light by Texas standards, which means no slot requirements and no meaningful congestion at the FBO ramp.

Abilene is a regional hub for the oil patch and ranching country of west Texas. Private aviation is the practical way in. Commercial service is thin, with only a handful of daily regional flights. Most charter passengers arrive by private aircraft precisely because the commercial alternative requires a connection through Dallas.

Business Jet Services operates the primary FBO at KABI. Expect standard FBO amenities: fuel, hangar space, a passenger lounge, and ground transport coordination. The airport is not a customs port of entry, so international arrivals must clear customs elsewhere before landing.

Downtown Abilene is 3 miles from the terminal, roughly a 7-minute drive. The airport has rental car counters on-site. Car service and taxi options exist but are limited in a city of 125,000, so arranging transportation in advance is advisable.

Dallas-Fort Worth is approximately 180 miles east on I-20, about 2.5 to 3 hours by car. Midland-Odessa is 120 miles southwest, around 1.5 hours. For passengers continuing to remote ranch or oilfield locations, ground vehicles or helicopter transfers from KABI are the norm.
