About Freeman Jet Center

Freeman Jet Center has been in continuous operation at Abilene Regional Airport since 1968, making it one of the longest-running FBOs in West Texas. The facility was recently rebranded as Freeman Jet Center Abilene after becoming part of the Freeman Holdings Group FBO network. The operation provides 24/7 fueling, full FBO services, MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul), avionics, parts, and charter services. Both Freeman Jet Center and its neighboring FBO at Abilene serve as factory service centers for Textron and Cirrus aircraft, bringing specialized maintenance expertise to the field. DLA-approved aviation fuel is available around the clock, ensuring military and government aircraft can refuel at any hour alongside private and corporate jets. The facility includes aircraft parking and GPU/power cart services, hangar space, and concierge support. Abilene Regional Airport features a 7,202-foot primary runway capable of handling most business jet types. The airport is located on the southern edge of Abilene, a city of approximately 125,000 people in the center of West Texas. Abilene serves as a regional hub for the oil and gas industry, ranching operations, and three universities (Abilene Christian, Hardin-Simmons, and McMurry). For charter passengers, Freeman Jet Center provides the primary arrival infrastructure at an airport where traffic volumes are low enough to ensure fast turnarounds and zero congestion. The nearly six decades of operational history translate to deep local knowledge and established relationships with the airport authority. The facility handles everything a visiting aircraft and its passengers need, from fueling and maintenance to ground transport coordination.

Downtown Abilene is 3 miles from the terminal, roughly a 7-minute drive. The airport has rental car counters on-site. Car service and taxi options exist but are limited in a city of 125,000, so arranging transportation in advance is advisable. Dallas-Fort Worth is approximately 180 miles east on I-20, about 2.5 to 3 hours by car. Midland-Odessa is 120 miles southwest, around 1.5 hours. For passengers continuing to remote ranch or oilfield locations, ground vehicles or helicopter transfers from KABI are the norm.
