Marrakesh Menara Airport

Marrakesh Menara is a full-service international airport with scheduled customs and immigration for private arrivals. The airport handles significant private jet volume, particularly from European cities and Gulf states, driven by Marrakesh's position as a high-end leisure and events destination. A dedicated general aviation terminal handles private arrivals separately from commercial traffic, which reduces ground delays on most days. During major events, including the Marrakesh International Film Festival and Formula E, ramp space tightens and handling coordination should be arranged well in advance.

Morocco requires overflight and landing permits for most foreign-registered aircraft, with processing times typically 24-72 hours depending on the registry. Customs and immigration are available at the airport for international arrivals. Night operations exist but the airport is not staffed 24 hours for general aviation, so late arrivals or early departures require advance coordination with your handling agent.

The airport is 5 km from the Jemaa el-Fna square in the medina, a 15-20 minute drive depending on traffic. The Palmeraie resort area north of the city is about 20 km away, roughly 25-30 minutes. Luxury hotels such as La Mamounia and Royal Mansour are 10-15 minutes by car. Ouarzazate and Atlas Mountain destinations are 3-4 hours by road. Private car service is the standard transfer option and most handling agents can arrange this on arrival. Taxis are available at the terminal but metered fares to the city center are inconsistently applied for arriving international passengers.
