Victoria International Airport

Victoria International sits on the Saanich Peninsula in Sidney, not in Victoria itself. For private aviation, this matters: you land 26km from the Inner Harbour and city centre, connected by the Pat Bay Highway (Highway 17). The airport handles scheduled commercial service alongside general and business aviation, but traffic levels stay manageable compared to Vancouver International across the water.

CYYJ is a designated entry point into Canada with CBSA customs services on site. International arrivals can clear customs here without diverting to Vancouver, which is the main reason it works well for cross-border charter traffic from the US Pacific Northwest. VIH Aviation Group is based at Victoria International and operates both fixed-wing and helicopter services from the airport.

The airport has no published slot requirements. If you have specific questions about overnight parking, fuel availability, or FBO services, contact the Victoria Airport Authority or VIH Aviation directly before your trip.

Downtown Victoria is 26km south via Highway 17, a drive of roughly 25 to 30 minutes outside peak hours. Ferry traffic from the Swartz Bay terminal, 5km north of the airport, can back up onto the Pat Bay Highway on summer weekends and holiday Fridays. Plan accordingly if your trip coincides with those windows.

Taxi and rideshare service is available at the terminal. For charter passengers arriving by private jet, pre-arranged car service is the standard option. There is no direct helicopter transfer service between the airport and the Inner Harbour, though VIH Aviation operates floatplane and helicopter services that can be arranged separately.
