Comox Valley International Airport / CFB Comox

CYQQ is a joint-use facility shared between the civilian Comox Valley Airport and CFB Comox, home to 19 Wing RCAF. Private charter operations use the civilian side of the airfield. The military presence means the airport is well-maintained with a longer runway (2,408 m) capable of handling large cabin jets. Slot requirements are not a concern for most charter operations, and the airport is far less congested than Vancouver International.

The civilian terminal is modest but functional. FBO services are available on the general aviation ramp. Passengers arriving on private charters clear customs in a dedicated facility. The airport is designated a Canadian port of entry, so international arrivals are handled without diverting to a larger hub.

Courtenay, the commercial center of the Comox Valley, is about 8 km and a 10-minute drive from the terminal. Campbell River is roughly 50 km north, about 40 minutes by car. Nanaimo, the other major city on Vancouver Island, is 150 km south and takes just under two hours to drive. Car rentals are available at the airport. BC Ferries operates a route from Comox to Powell River on the mainland, about 30 minutes from the airport, with crossings roughly every 3-4 hours.
