Campbell River Airport

Campbell River Airport sits on the northeast coast of Vancouver Island, roughly 270 km north of Victoria. For private aviation, it functions primarily as a regional access point for northern Vancouver Island, Strathcona Provincial Park, and the network of remote fly-in fishing and hunting lodges that dot the surrounding inlets and islands. Commercial service is limited, so the airport moves at a relaxed pace with minimal congestion.

The airport has a single asphalt runway (11/29) and handles a mix of turboprops, light jets, and floatplane connections. There are no slot requirements. FBO services are available for fuel and basic handling. If you are chartering into remote lodges in Bute Inlet, Toba Inlet, or the northern islands, CYBL is often the staging point before a floatplane or helicopter transfer for the final leg.

Downtown Campbell River is about 5 km from the terminal, a 10-minute drive. Rental cars are available at the airport. Taxi and rideshare options exist but are limited compared to larger centres. If your final destination is a remote fishing lodge or wilderness property, most operators arrange their own floatplane or helicopter transfers from the airport or from the adjacent Campbell River waterfront, about 6 km away.
