About Comox Valley Airport FBO
Comox Valley Airport operates FBO services on the civilian side of Canadian Forces Base Comox on Vancouver Island. The airport commission manages the civilian terminal and general aviation operations separately from the military base, though they share the runway infrastructure. Jet A1 fuel is available, and CANPASS customs handling is offered for international arrivals, with Canada Border Services Agency officers processing general aviation aircraft with up to 15 passengers. The airport has daily non-stop commercial flights from Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver, but private aviation passengers benefit from the much simpler general aviation arrival process. For charter passengers, Comox Valley Airport is the gateway to central Vancouver Island's outdoor recreation areas, including Mount Washington ski resort (about 30 minutes away), the Comox Valley's golf courses and wineries, and the marine recreation along the Georgia Strait. The communities of Comox, Courtenay, and Cumberland are all within 15 minutes of the airport. The airport is located 2.5 nautical miles northeast of the town of Comox. Dining, shopping, and car rentals are located at or near the airport. The civilian terminal provides a straightforward experience for general aviation arrivals: clear customs if needed, collect baggage, and pick up a rental car or meet pre-arranged ground transport. Traffic volumes at Comox are modest compared to Vancouver or Victoria, so ramp congestion is rarely an issue. The shared military-civilian arrangement means the runway and navigational aids are maintained to a high standard.
