Princess Juliana International Airport

TNCM is the largest airport in the northeastern Caribbean and the main entry point for private aviation across this part of the region. The airport sits on a narrow strip of land between Simpson Bay Lagoon and the Caribbean Sea, with a famously short approach over Maho Beach. It handles a mix of commercial widebody traffic and private charter operations, with general aviation facilities clustered in the Simpson Bay area along the airport's western perimeter.

Peak season runs December through April, when the island sees its highest tourist volume and airport congestion increases significantly. Private aircraft operators should coordinate slot times with their FBO during this period, particularly around weekends and holidays. Customs and immigration clearance is available on-site, which makes TNCM a practical entry point for international charter flights arriving from the US, Europe, or other Caribbean islands.

The airport's geographic position makes it a natural staging point for flights to St. Barths (TFFJ), Anguilla (TFFG), St. Kitts (TKPK), and Saba (TNCS). Several operators use TNCM as a base for inter-island repositioning, which explains the consistent supply of arriving and departing charter traffic.

The airport is on the southwestern edge of Sint Maarten. Philipsburg, the Dutch capital, is roughly 6 miles by road, about 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic on the Ring Road. Marigot on the French side is approximately 8 miles north, 20 to 25 minutes. The island is small enough that most beach resorts and villa areas are within 30 to 40 minutes of the airport.

Taxis are the standard option and are plentiful at the terminal. Rates are fixed by zone and posted at the taxi stand. Car rentals are available for those staying longer. For access to St. Barths, water taxi and ferry connections depart from nearby Oyster Pond and Simpson Bay Marina, or your operator can arrange a short inter-island charter flight directly.
