Grantley Adams International Airport

Grantley Adams handles all international traffic into Barbados, commercial and private alike. The airport sits on the southern coast in Christ Church parish. Private aircraft use a dedicated general aviation facility separate from the main terminal, with full customs and immigration clearance on site.

Barbados attracts heavy private jet traffic during the winter season (December through April), when the island fills with visitors heading to the west coast Sandy Lane and Platinum Coast resort corridor. Flight slots are not typically required outside peak periods, but planners should expect ground handling congestion during the Christmas and New Year window. Confirm FBO availability in advance for late December arrivals.

The island has no noise curfew under normal operations, and the airport is staffed around the clock for international movements. Fuel, catering, and handling are available through established ground handlers.

Bridgetown is about 20 minutes by car from the airport, roughly 13 km west on Highway 7. The west coast resort strip (Sandy Lane, Holetown, Speightstown) runs 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic, using the ABC Highway north and then Highway 1 up the coast. South coast beaches and hotels in Worthing and St. Lawrence Gap are 10 to 15 minutes away.

Car hire desks operate inside the terminal. Pre-arranged chauffeur transfers are the standard choice for private arrivals; the island's licensed taxi operators meet all flights at the general aviation area. Helicopter transfers are not a standard offering on the island given the short road distances involved.
