V. C. Bird International Airport

V. C. Bird International Airport is the only commercial and charter hub on Antigua, handling all private jet arrivals and departures for the island. The airport has a single paved runway (07/25) at 9,003 feet, which accommodates heavy jets including large-cabin aircraft without restriction. FBO services are available on the general aviation ramp, with handling agents providing customs clearance, fuel, and ground support.

Antigua is a popular Caribbean destination during the winter season, and the airport sees peak congestion from December through April. Slot coordination is not formally required, but operators should confirm handling arrangements in advance during this period. The island has an air traffic control tower with published operating hours, though after-hours arrivals may require prior coordination with authorities.

Customs and immigration are handled on arrival at the airport. Private jet passengers typically clear separately from commercial traffic, though the process runs through the same government facilities. Carnets and temporary import permits for aircraft are processed here.

St. John's is about 3 miles southwest of the airport, a 10-minute drive under normal conditions. The English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour areas, where most luxury resorts and yacht anchorages are concentrated, are roughly 12 miles south, 25 to 30 minutes by car. Dickenson Bay and the north coast resorts are 5 to 10 minutes from the terminal. Taxis are available curbside; rates are government-regulated and posted at the airport. Car hire desks operate in the arrivals hall. No helicopter transfer service operates between the airport and resort areas.
