North Eleuthera Airport

North Eleuthera Airport is a small international airport with a single runway serving the northern tip of Eleuthera island in the Bahamas. Most passengers using ELH are bound for Harbour Island, a separate cay reached by a short water taxi from the dock at Three Island Wharf, about 3 miles from the terminal. The airport itself is simple and low-traffic, which means fast processing and none of the congestion found at Nassau's Lynden Pindling International Airport.

Customs and immigration are handled on-site for international arrivals, as Eleuthera is Bahamian territory. The facility is basic but functional. Expect a small terminal with limited amenities. Ramp space is adequate for midsize jets. The airport does not have the infrastructure for heavy long-range aircraft, so operators flying heavy iron from the US East Coast typically route through Nassau first.

Taxis meet arriving flights and charge fixed government rates for the 3-mile run to the water taxi dock at Three Island Wharf. The water taxi crossing to Harbour Island takes roughly 5 minutes and runs throughout the day. Once on Harbour Island, golf carts are the standard mode of transport. The island is about 3 miles long and most hotels, restaurants, and Pink Sands Beach are within easy golf cart range of the Harbour Island dock. Car rentals are available on the Eleuthera mainland for passengers heading further south toward Gregory Town or Governor's Harbour, which is about 35 miles down the Queen's Highway.
