Exuma International Airport

Exuma International is one of the most popular private aviation destinations in the Caribbean. The airport sits on Great Exuma, the largest island in the chain, and handles a high proportion of charter and private traffic relative to commercial service. American Airlines and a handful of regional carriers operate scheduled flights, but private jets are the dominant traffic type.

The airport has full customs and immigration clearance for international arrivals. Flights from the US clear here on arrival. The facility is modest in size, which keeps ground movement quick. There are no slot requirements and no meaningful congestion outside of peak winter season and regatta week in April, when traffic increases significantly.

Staniel Cay Airport (MYES) is the alternative for passengers heading to the northern Exuma cays, including Staniel Cay Yacht Club and the surrounding private islands. For anything south of Staniel, Exuma International is the practical entry point.

George Town, the main settlement on Great Exuma, is about 4 miles south of the airport. Taxis meet most arrivals and the ride takes under 10 minutes. Sandals Emerald Bay resort is approximately 9 miles north of the airport. Local car rental is available at the airport through small operators, though availability is limited and advance booking is recommended during peak season.

For properties on the outer cays, boat or seaplane transfer is standard. Several charter boat operators work out of George Town and Stocking Island. Helicopter transfers to private islands are arranged through local operators and some resorts directly.
