Cozumel International Airport

Cozumel is an island in the Caribbean Sea off the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, with no road connection to the mainland. Flying private is the fastest way in and out, and MMCZ is the island's only airport. The alternative is a 45-minute ferry from Playa del Carmen, which most private passengers bypass entirely.

The airport handles both commercial and general aviation traffic. Private arrivals clear Mexican customs and immigration on site, which is standard for all international and domestic island arrivals. The facility is manageable in size, and FBO services are available for refueling and passenger handling. Cozumel sees consistent cruise ship traffic that peaks October through April, and the island's dive season draws visitors year-round, so the airport runs at a steady pace without the extreme congestion of Cancún.

The airport sits about 3km north of downtown San Miguel de Cozumel, roughly a 10-minute taxi ride. Most dive resorts and hotels are concentrated along the west coast of the island and are reachable within 20 to 40 minutes by car. The island is approximately 48km long, so the farthest southern beach clubs or eco-parks are under an hour from the airport. Taxis are plentiful at arrivals. Rental cars are available at the airport for passengers who want independent access to the island's ring road.
