Punta Cana International is privately owned and operated by Grupo Puntacana, which also developed the Cap Cana resort community directly adjacent to the airport. That relationship matters for private aviation: the private terminal sits in a separate facility from the commercial halls, and the proximity to Cap Cana means some guests clear customs and reach their villa in under 20 minutes total. The airport handles a high volume of charter and private traffic given the destination, so expect professional ground handling but plan ahead during peak travel periods (Christmas through Easter, and July).

International arrivals clear Dominican Republic customs and immigration at the airport. Handlers familiar with private aviation operations at MDPC include established ramp services used by regional operators. The airport does not impose a general operations curfew, though individual noise abatement guidelines apply at night.

Cap Cana is roughly 5 miles from the terminal, a 10-minute drive. The Bavaro hotel strip is 15 to 20 miles north, typically 25 to 35 minutes depending on traffic. Uvero Alto, at the far northern end of the resort corridor, is about 45 minutes. Casa de Campo in La Romana is approximately 90 miles west, around 1 hour 45 minutes by road. Santo Domingo is roughly 150 miles west, a 3-hour drive. Car service and VIP transfers are readily available through resort concierges and local operators. Helicopter transfers to private residences or yacht anchorages are offered by regional charter operators for guests who want to skip road travel entirely.
