Olbia Costa Smeralda handles the bulk of private aviation traffic into Sardinia's northeastern coast, which means it gets extremely congested in July and August. If you're arriving between late June and mid-August, confirm slot requirements with your operator well in advance and expect ramp congestion regardless.

The airport has customs and immigration facilities and handles international arrivals year-round. Outside of summer, it operates at a fraction of the summer volume and presents no unusual logistical challenges. The FBO infrastructure is adequate for a seasonal destination airport: expect professional handling but not the level of service found at year-round private aviation hubs.

Helicopter transfers to Porto Cervo, Cala di Volpe, and other coastal locations are commonly arranged by handling agents and take under 10 minutes. For those continuing to La Maddalena Archipelago, the Palau ferry terminal is 40km north, about 40 minutes by road.
