Nice-Côte d'Azur Airport

Nice-Côte d'Azur is the second busiest airport in France and the primary private jet gateway to the French Riviera. It handles significant charter and business aviation traffic year-round, concentrated in the summer season and around major events including the Cannes Film Festival (May) and Monaco Grand Prix (May). Slot coordination is required, and during peak periods slots become scarce well in advance. Book early or plan to use Cannes Mandelieu (LFMD), 24 km west, which is uncongested and handles private aviation exclusively.

Private aviation uses Terminal 1, which has dedicated FBO facilities, customs and immigration on site, and private lounges separate from commercial terminal flow. Ground handlers including Signature Flight Support operate there. The experience is considerably smoother than arriving on a commercial flight, but the airport itself sits on a narrow coastal strip and ramp space is limited during peak weeks. Noise abatement procedures restrict late-night departures, and jet blast restrictions apply on certain stands.

Nice city center is 6 km from the airport, roughly 15-20 minutes by car depending on coastal traffic. Monaco is 22 km east, typically 35-45 minutes by road. Cannes is 24 km west, about 30 minutes. Saint-Tropez is approximately 100 km and takes 1.5 to 2 hours depending on summer traffic on the coastal roads.

Helicopter transfers to Monaco take 7 minutes and are a standard option for passengers continuing there. Héli Air Monaco and Monacair both operate scheduled and charter helicopter service between LFMN and Monaco Heliport. Car service from Nice to Monaco typically runs 200-300 EUR. The Nice tram line T2 connects the airport to the city center in about 20 minutes for passengers not using ground transport.
