Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport

Málaga-Costa del Sol is one of Spain's three busiest airports, processing over 20 million passengers per year. Private flights operate from a dedicated general aviation apron and terminal separate from commercial traffic, though the airport's overall volume means taxiway congestion is common, particularly in summer. The airport is slot-coordinated from June through September, and private operators must request slots in advance during this period. Plan extra buffer time on the ground during July and August.

Full customs and immigration are available, and the airport handles international private arrivals routinely. Handling agents including Swissport and others provide FBO-style services for private aircraft. Fuel, catering, and ground handling are straightforward to arrange through your operator.

Málaga city center is 8 km from the airport, around 15 minutes by car outside of peak hours. Marbella is 55 km west along the A-7 coastal motorway, typically 45 to 50 minutes in normal traffic but often 75 minutes or more during summer afternoons. Puerto Banús sits another 5 km beyond Marbella. Estepona is about 80 km, Ronda roughly 100 km via the A-397 mountain road. Private car services and taxis are available curbside. Helicopter transfers to Marbella and other Costa del Sol destinations can be arranged through local operators for passengers who want to avoid coastal road congestion entirely.
