Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport

Madrid-Barajas is a Level 3 coordinated airport, meaning every movement requires an advance slot approved by AENA. Slots for peak periods can take weeks to confirm, so file requests as early as possible. Private and business aviation aircraft use a dedicated general aviation terminal, separate from the four commercial terminals, which keeps customs and ramp access away from the commercial congestion.

Noise abatement procedures restrict departure operations between 11pm and 6am local time. International arrivals are generally exempt, but departures during those hours require prior authorization. The airport itself operates around the clock. Immigration and customs processing for private passengers happens at the general aviation terminal, not in the main international halls.

The city center (Puerta del Sol) is 13 km southwest of the airport, typically 20 to 30 minutes by car outside peak hours. During morning rush (8 to 10am) and evening rush (6 to 8pm), allow 45 to 60 minutes. Taxis from the airport to central Madrid run on a fixed rate of approximately 33 euros. Pre-booked executive car service is the standard option for private aviation passengers and can be arranged through most ground handlers. The Metro Line 8 connects the commercial terminals to central Madrid in about 30 minutes, but it does not serve the business aviation ramp directly.
